If you’ve ever dreamed of visiting the Amalfi Coast, let me just say… it’s every bit as breathtaking as it looks online! And, also a serious leg workout. Between the views, the lemon groves, and the thousand (yes, literally thousands) of steps, this trip was one for the books.
Below, I’m sharing highlights from my itinerary! Think: everything from day trips to Ravello and Capri to cooking classes with locals and that unforgettable Hike of the Gods. Plus a few tips to help you plan your own Amalfi adventure with confidence (and comfortable shoes).
Ravello felt like stepping into another world: peaceful, elegant, and full of views that stop you in your tracks. We spent the day wandering through the Villa Cimbrone Gardens, which are filled with marble statues, manicured pathways, and lookouts that stretch endlessly over the Mediterranean. You could easily spend hours here just soaking in the scenery (and taking a million photos).
Travel Tip: Plan to visit Ravello as a day trip from Positano. It’s less crowded, and the cooler mountain air is such a nice break from the coastal heat.

If you love a challenge or just want the most jaw-dropping views on earth you have to do the Hike of the Gods. We started in Bomerano at Piazza Paolo Capass and ended in Positano, which took about four hours total.
The path winds along cliffs, through olive groves, and overlooks the bluest water you’ve ever seen. Bring lots of water and a packed lunch! Trust me, your legs will thank you for every break you take.
The descent into Positano is no joke (about 1,000 steps down!), but stopping for a frozen lemonade on the way back makes it totally worth it.
Travel Tip: Wear sturdy shoes, start early in the morning, and reward yourself with an Aperol spritz when you reach the bottom!

Positano might just be the most photogenic place I’ve ever been. The pastel houses, steep streets, and sea views make it picture-perfect! But, be warned: this town is built vertically.
Everywhere you go involves stairs! Think: to your hotel, to the beach, to dinner… and back up again. The locals, of course, glide up and down like it’s nothing, while visitors (me!) are gasping and laughing our way to the next viewpoint.
Travel Tip: Pack lightweight shoes and keep your luggage minimal — you don’t want to drag heavy suitcases up 200 steps!

One of my favorite experiences from the trip was our cooking class on the island of Ischia. It was hosted in a local family’s home, and they were so welcoming! We learned to make homemade gnocchi, fettuccine, ravioli, and tiramisu from scratch. It was such an incredible experience!
It was the perfect way to immerse ourselves in Italian culture and connect with locals beyond the tourist spots.
Travel Tip: Look for small, family-run cooking classes. You’ll get an authentic experience (and likely a few new friends).

While Ischia often gets overshadowed by Capri in the Amalfi Coast, it deserves way more attention. It’s laid-back, full of charm, and known for its thermal baths and scenic coastline.
We visited Castello Aragonese, a medieval castle perched dramatically over the sea. The walk up is steep (shocking, I know — more stairs!), but the views are beyond worth it.
Travel Tip: Pair your castle visit with a spa day at one of the island’s natural hot springs — it’s the ultimate way to relax after all that climbing.

The Amalfi Coast is truly unforgettable! It is the perfect mix of adventure, charm, and coastal magic that stays with you long after you leave. Whether you’re hiking cliffs, making pasta with locals, or simply watching the sunset from your balcony, every moment feels cinematic.
